Xfinity Watchathon Week is Back!

This post is sponsored by Comcast.

Today is THE day!  It’s the start of 5th annual Xfinity Watchathon Week!  It’s that time of year that you can binge watch, catch up or start a new show that you’ve been dying to watch even on channels not included in your package.
Throughout the year our TV is usually tuned to Xfinity Kid Zone where the kids can safely browse their favorite shows on both our Xfinity X1 service and our Netflix account. Because of this, I am always, ALWAYS behind on the hottest new shows. Finding time to watch TV while working from home with three kids is hard. Case in point, last year I posted that for Xfinity Watchathon Week I was excited to watch Game of Thrones! Even with our subscription to HBO, it took us a good 3 or 4 months to finish season 1. Since the show was starting season 6 we had some serious catching up to do!   It was fun to pick GoT as our “binge” show for the week and get (mostly) caught up.

This year?  This year I’m branching out to a series I have yet to watch on a premium channel not in our subscription: Homeland. It’s one that I just haven’t had the time to watch, so I’m hoping to watch as much as possible this week!  But since time is on short supply here, a plan is called for to ensure I get the most out of this week!
Step 1: Schedule out the week.
I’m talking food shopping, baseball practices and selecting our “Friday date night at home” shows ahead of time. Whatever you need to do, get it on the calendar so that you know what needs to be done when.  This will also allow you to see how much time you’ll be able to carve out for your Watchathon viewing pleasure.  One of my biggest issues is that I find I hit the grocery store 3 or 4 times a week.  This week, I’m going to make sure I have our meals planned out and the groceries purchased by Monday morning.
Step 2: Go mobile.
Often I find that I’m early to pick the kids up from school and end up mindlessly browsing the Internet on my phone. Rather than waste precious time parked in the school lot, I plan on taking my Watchathon Week mobile by using my phone to access the Xfinity Stream app.

Step 3: Bedtime Battles
Bedtimes do not go smoothly around these parts.  In fact, the kids have seemed to perfect the art of stalling when 7:30 comes around. From cries of, “can I have a snack” or “Oh no, I didn’t do my spelling homework”, I’m starting our typical bedtime routine a bit earlier so that we can catch another episode or two at night during the week!

But wait, there’s more!  I mentioned last year that Netflix subscribers had access to their content through the Xfinity X1 service. Netflix is now joining the more than 50 networks participating in Xfinity Watchathon Week. X1 customers who are not currently Netflix subscribers will enjoy unlimited access to the Netflix online catalog throughout Watchathon Week and will have the ability to sign up on April 10.
We linked our Netflix and Xfinity X1 services and browsing shows has never been easier.
