We were invited to the to the press preview of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia. All opinions are my own.
Our children have been anxiously awaiting the opening of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia. With three avid LEGO bricks builders, having a LEGOLAND Discovery Center located so close to home is incredibly convenient. Touted as “the new ultimate indoor LEGO® playground”, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia will open its doors to the public on Thursday, April 6th, at 11am.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia includes 10 LEGO Play Zones that are sure to keep your LEGO play experience fun and exciting. It certainly kept my daughter creatively engaged during our three hours of fun at the press preview, and she was already asking when we could return for more! Some of our favorites included:
We started our morning on the Imagination Express located at the Brick Station. This is a fun LEGO ride that starts the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia experience by taking visitors through a creative adventure that includes popping bubbles with a star wand and finding a map. This is a gentle ride that even younger fans will enjoy.
LEGO 4D Cinema
I have never experiences 4D cinema before. As we made our way over, we saw LEGO Man and walked the red carpet.
Visitors are provided 3D glasses and guided into the stadium seating theater. As the show begins, you feel the elements that the characters are experiencing. We had a blast feeling the wind blow in our hair and bubbles rain down on our heads. We saw the LEGO® NEXO KNIGHTS™: The Book of Creativity show, but there is also The Legends of Chima 4D. Also, check back in June when The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure debuts!
Pirate Adventure Island
My kids love any chance to climb, and Pirate Adventure Island does not disappoint! BGB visited this section 3 times during our experience. She loved the pirate ship theme, where she climbed rigging, escaped down the slide and walked the plank.
BGB has a few small sets of LEGO® Friends at home, so she is familiar with Andrea, Mia, Olivia, Stephanie and Emma. We spend a good bit of time building horses for the girls to ride and checking out the detail of the color LEGO® Heartlake City.
One of the fabulous aspects of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia experience is that the iconic landmarks of Philly are represented in MINILAND®. The detail of the iconic and historical buildings and sporting venues is amazing. Several of the exhibits included motion so you could see the LEGO® MiniFigures moving about the city.
Coffee Shop & Cafe
With so much to do, it’s easy to work up an appetite! There is a sit down area with tables so you can enjoy freshly-made sandwiches or snacks, unwind with a specialty coffee from our coffee range or indulge in a tasty treat!
