DIY Upcycled Snow Globe Craft

As a member of the Chick-fil-A Moms panel, I received a free Chick fil A food coupon in exchange for creating this DIY Snow Globe Craft.  #ChickfilAMomsDIY

Every fall/winter I am excited to change up my usual sandwich order at Chick-fil-A so I can enjoy their seasonal Tortilla soup.  It’s the perfect “warm-me-up” lunch that easily fits into my day-to-day errands.  As a member of the Chick-fil-A Moms panel, I was challenged to create something using the empty tortilla soup container. Game On!

I wasn’t too sure what I should create at first.  Of course, my kids are always a great source of inspiration.  Just a few weeks ago, Bbear arrived home with his paper plate snow globe. He was so proud of his creation, and it was something he decided he would hang on his door knob.  A few hours later, he had a little tantrum and slammed his door… and the clear plastic plate of his paper snow globe cracked in a number of pieces.  He was devastated.

Remembering the Chick-fil-A Moms Panel DIY challenge, I wondered, “How easy would it be to create a fun snow globe craft using the clear plastic container?”  Using just a few materials, it is a super fun activity for the kids (I’ll work the glue gun, of course!).  I think this would also be fun with a beach theme, using sand and gluing some small shells to the background.

Follow along for your next snowy or rainy day activity.

Snow Globe Craft

DIY Upcycled Snow Globe Craft 1

Materials

  • Clear plastic plate (I used a Chick-fil-A Tortilla Soup container lid)
  • construction paper
  • Hot glue gun
  • “snow” (I used confetti glitter, but shredded papers or other confetti would be great to use)
  • stickers and other decor/scenery

Instructions

Step 1: Take your construction paper and clear plastic plate and create your outline (think holidays or a paper version of a snow globe).  Make sure the construction paper shape is larger than your clear plate.

Step 2: Use a pencil to trace the shape of the plate where the stickers and decor will go for a visual aid. Then, cut out your shape.

Step 3: Decorate the construction paper however you wish using markers or stickers. We created a shamrock/princess sticker snow globe.

Step 4: Place the plate flat on a table and add the confetti.

Step 5: Using a hot glue gun, put the glue on the outer rim of the plastic plate.  Next place the construction paper on top of the clear plate so that the artwork/stickers are on the inside of the plate. Allow to dry.

Voila!  You’re snow globe craft masterpiece is ready to enjoy!
