The season has definitely changed from Summer to Fall in our area! At the beginning of September, I started the process of going through the boys closets to figure out what fall/winter clothing they had. I had a mental note from last Spring that Cbear had absolutely no pants left that fit him but I knew I needed to take stock of his wardrobe as a whole.
It’s too hard to go through the boys clothing with them around, so I tend to put all the clothes in bags, drag them to my room and then sort through what we can and can’t use. I also like to find out if anyone else might need hand-me-downs that both the boys have since outgrown. Sorting helped me discover that Cbear needed long-sleeved shirts. Badly. These were just a few of the bags I got to sort through:
Fall Fashion with Cookies Kids
When I was asked to check out this great online shopping site called CookiesKids.com I was ecstatic. Shopping from home is SO much easier than trying to find the time (or a babysitter) to visit a typical brick-and-mortar store. CookiesKids.com offers a plethora of brands, styles and sizes for me to browse right from my laptop. YAY!
I decided I would first do a quick browse of the CookiesKids.com to orient myself with the site and then get Cbear involved in picking out his own clothes once I had narrowed down some options. Shopping the site is simple as the online store fits items into very nice categories that are easy to navigate. You can check out our online shopping experience via my Google+ album.
At 4 years old, Cbear has become quite the kid style expert. Apparently, all shirts must have a vehicle of some kind on them. To say it’s been a struggle to get him dressed some days is an understatement. With that in mind, I hoped allowing him to pick out some of the clothes would result in a more varied wardrobe. I did get him to stray slightly from his usual attire. Here are a few items he selected:
Sizing on CookiesKids.com via Alva Kids
Cbear is a tough one these days size-wise. The 5′s are too long and the 4′s are too tight/short on him. CookiesKids.com must have heard this request by other parents because on the site they have a great sizing feature called Alva’s Kids that allows you to add in your child’s age, gender, height and weight as well as build to provide you a guide for an article of clothing. This feature is found on the individual item’s page where you would select the color or size you wish to purchase.
I was able to save my profile and whenever I found an item where I wasn’t certain on size, I opted to see what the Alva’s Kids sizing features would suggest. Such a simple and useful tool – I wish they did that for grown ups as well!

About Cookies Kids
In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season.
By the late 1990′s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area named Cookie’s Kids. The late ’90s also brought an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.
