I admit it – I can be a dork sometimes. Ok, maybe more than sometimes. I’m not a fan of your typical “girl” movies. I like action. I like adventure. I like my pulse pounding, but not in a too-scared-to-move-this-could-happen-in-real-life sort of way. I also like strong female characters that can kick butt. So when The Avengers came out on DVD on September 25th, 2012, I was there on day 1 to buy the Blu-Ray combo pack and pick up a MarketSide Pizza for dinner!

Marvel Super Heroes
I suppose it’s also not a surprise when I tell you I was so ridiculously excited when we were able to get a babysitter and head to the movies to see The Avengers this summer. Or that every time an Iron Man movie is on tv we stop to watch. In fact, I vividly remember seeing the first Iron Man movie in the theaters while I was a good 36 weeks or so pregnant with Cbear. The theme song came on and I remember him thumping all over the place to the loud bass in the music. It.Was.Awesome. It’s also pretty fitting that Cbear loves wearing his Iron Man pajamas as well as his Thor helmet these days
I could watch Iron Man and Thor fight evil for the entire movie, but my favorite character is Agent Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a Black Widow). She’s smart, sassy and she can totally dominate any fight even in high heels. I enjoy seeing female characters like that.
Walmart and Our Augmented Reality Experience
I headed to Walmart to make my DVD purchase and try out the Avengers Augmented Reality App. Before leaving I quickly and easily downloaded the app to my smartphone. Once at Walmart, I was able to find some of the special signs and displays that allowed me to scan with my phone and play along. There are trigger points all over the store and they are pretty hard to miss even if you aren’t looking for them!
This was the largest display in my store – right in front of the electronics department.

I had a fun adventure navigating the Walmart aisles and playing along with the character quiz. This was yet another display at the end of a row of DVDs in the electronics department.

When I finished the Augmented Reality quiz, and while I was still in the store, I was able to reveal the character I most identified with. Guess who it was? Agent Natasha Romanoff: The Black Widow!

Blu-Ray/DVD Release
There are so many options for DVD purchases these days. Do you buy a standard DVD; the Blu-Ray; special commentary editions? What to choose? With the release of this movie, you can purchase The Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD/Graphic Novel Combo Pack from Walmart ($27.96).

The boys were a bit young for the movie, but they really enjoyed “reading” the graphic novel. I especially loved that Cbear wanted to wear his Thor helmet while reading to Bbear.

The Avengers and MarketSide Pizza
We had a fun Wednesday pizza and movie night. Since the boys are young, we had a family dinner with MarketSide Pizza and then my husband and I enjoyed the movie on our own. There were a number of pizza toppings to choose from, but when I asked my husband which one he would like, he seemed to think it a no-brainer. His quote was that I “could never go wrong with more meat”. So, the Ultimate Meat Pizza it was!

I mean seriously… look at the meat on this pizza!!!! I’ve never had a MarketSide pizza from Walmart before but we have purchased other pizza’s that you take home to bake. This one was seriously ultimate, especially for under $10! If you are looking for a pizza with TONS of meat – this is it!

Even Thor made his appearance at the table for a short while too.

Probably one of our last family of 4 photos at the kitchen table before Baby Girl arrives!

What a great night. I’m so glad we were able to add The Avengers to our movie library!

So much fun! We had an Avengers date night this week, too. I couldn’t believe how neat the app was. What a fun bonus experience. I’m going to have to step it up the next time I’m running errands with the kids. They might be expecting a little more excitement at the store now!

The app was definitely addictive! I know what you mean about having to step up the next shopping experience with the kids. On the other hand, it’s a great way to keep the occupied
We didn’t have enough trigger points to do the quiz, but watching the movie and having pizza made up for it! The Thor pizza was the best one by far

I barely had enough trigger points to do the quiz as well. Seemed like ours were mostly in electronics. Still SO much fun
I love “Thor” at the table! This is a cute post. I’m not an Avengers fan, but I think my family would appreciate this type of party.

It was so much fun! The boys really enjoyed wearing the Thor gear (Cbear more than Bbear but he still had his fun as well)!
That Thor hat is so darn cute. So wish I had a little boy to dress up as an Avenger. I think I did talk my daughter into using an Avengers Halloween bag, though.

Thank you so much, Carolyn! An Avengers Halloween bag sounds like a great purchase – hopefully your daughter will be open to using it!
I’m with Carolyn! What a cutie Super Hero

We had a fabulous time together! The boys enjoy books, and I love that Cbear has taken to “reading” to his little brother! So hopeful that trend continues!
