I was one of those naysayers about buying “used” things but that was long before I had kids and found out just how quickly they outgrow things. From clothing to toys, you can find yourself spending hundreds of dollars on things that will be used for mere months (if you are lucky)!
If you have been living under a rock, they you probably haven’t heard of a great local consignment sale called Just Between Friends. They seriously make selling and shopping to simple. For consignors, they automate the process so that you can determine the price of the item, print out a scanable tag and then drop off the items you wish to sell. For those of us who are buying, the items are checked against a list of recalls and are checked for wear and tear as well. They definitely mean business when it comes the items at the sale being “gently used”.
This year, Cbear received a new “big boy” bike for his birthday. I hadn’t really thought out the fact that Bbear would also want to pedal along with his big brother. Enter the JBF sale at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. I was able to find this fabulous Hot Wheels trike ($12.50) so that Bbear can happily keep up with his brother.

And with the cooler weather in the mornings, I thought I was taken care of with the hoodies we used last year. Nope… Cbear grew quite a bit this summer and all of his hoodies could zip but were quite snug. I snagged this great Osh Gosh hoodie ($4) for him to get him through the fall.

And dress shoes… ugh. It’s one thing for an adult to buy dressy shoes for a wedding, but to do so for a child that will probably only wear said shoes one time before needing a new pair is killer! I already have a hand-me-down pair for Cbear but had nothing in the closet that would fit Bbear for my brother’s wedding next month. Of course I was ecstatic to find these barely worn dress shoes($3.50) for Bbear!

Finally, I was so very, very close to buying this ride for the boys. At $75, it was a STEAL my friends! This is a prime example of the types of bargains you can find when shopping at the Just Between Friends sale. If only we had a shed to store this puppy in, it would have totally been ours! I will always look at that item as the one that got away… hopefully the child who is playing with it now thoroughly enjoys it!
