Dinosaurs, Fries and Butterflies! #DipDipHooray #Cbias

We decided to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with a family game night. I know, “celebrate” doesn’t quite seem like the right word for summer ending, but finding reasons to come together as a family is always fun!

To start, I headed to our local Walmart to pick up a few items to make the Bear Family Game night a fun and easy one.

On my list was the trifecta of #DipDipHooray foods: Tyson Chicken Nuggets, Heinz Ketchup and Ore-Ida Crinkle Fries. For a family fun night, I wanted to keep dinner easy so the mood of our night would go well.

There is also a fun sweepstakes going on right now that you can join in at www.diptoplay.com.  Just visit the site, register and then type or upload your UPC numbers to unlock games to play! They make adding the UPC codes simple – and I’m crossing my fingers that we win! There are some very silly and fun online games on the site to enjoy, such as trying pretending to be a frog and catching flies or wiping a runny nose. Entering the sweepstakes is easy as well (check out the official rules here), and you Could Win a $1,000 Hasbro Game Night Grand Prize of top-rated board games and dinnertime favorites from Heinz® Ketchup, Ore-Ida® French Fries, & Tyson® Chicken Nuggets.

I then did a quick drive by to see what Hasbro games might be age-appropriate for the boys. I have a few at home, but there are a few I saw that might be fun for Santa to bring this year as well!

Our night started as an indoor picnic in the sun room. I guess that is one nice thing about our currently unfinished sun room – it’s multipurpose room for the boys! Another good thing? It was pouring outside so even if we had tried to do a true outdoor picnic, it was not a good night for it!

I loved that I could time our meal and put all our food on one tray to cook. Talk about making things easy!

I also had our game selection ready to go, and situated where the boys could see them. Talk about an added incentive to clear their plates!

Once we finished our dinner it was time for Family Game Night! It was a nice change of pace from our usual hurry up and rush around to get everyone ready for bed.  I set out three games we could play, and had high hopes we’d make the rounds to each. We did manage to play Candyland and Elefun.  Of course, I totally forgot we were out of C batteries – luckily the store is not too far and I made a mad dash to get some while the boys played Candyland.

The boys are still working on taking turns… but it’s all in good fun!

Bbear is always so intent – totally pondering his next move against his big brother!

We moved on to Elefun, which was a game none of us had every played before.  The boys loved that the butterflies came out of the elephant’s trunk.  Bbear was just happy they were flying about, while Cbear did get a little upset that he wasn’t catching as many as he’d like. They even enjoyed helping Daddy fill up the elephant for another round of butterfly catching excitement!

We had such a fun time with our Family Game Night and a great way to end our summer! You an check out more of our shopping and Family Fun Night pictures on my Google+ album.  Below are some fun links to Twitter and Facebook for Heinz, Tyson and Ore-Ida!

Do you have a regular family game night? What’s on your agenda?

I’m in heaven when I find those peelie coupons on products! It’s almost (almost) like I should buy more just because :)

I love the idea of the indoor picnic. We’ve never even attempted it since we have always had dogs. We’ll pull out the kid trays and eat on the floor sometimes but the dog always ends up with SOMETHING!
