Rocking Out with #LeapFrogTouchMagic

I have been taking stock of some of the toys we have in our playroom to try to weed out some of the ones that have been left by the wayside.  This weeding out made me realize that we have quite a number of LeapFrog toys at our house. The boys just seem to love them and they rarely tire of playing with them. From reading with Tag products, to game interaction on the LeapPad, to the learning about the world via the World Map, they enjoy playing (and learning) with LeapFrog.

Last week, we invited a “few” friends over to check out two new LeapFrog Touch Magic products: the Rockin’ Guitar and the Learning Bus. I say a few because it never seems like a few kids in the house when there are 9 of them ages 4 & under! We first let the kids run around and play with the “old” toys.  We then moved on to snacking and checking out the new LeapFrog toys and activity sheets.

Touch Magic is a line of new products from LeapFrog that are geared at providing technology-based touch products for preschoolers. Like other LeapFrog products, these toys “combine fun, learning and creativity”, however the TouchMagic product line also adds a fun tactile element to the entertainment! In addition to the Rockin’ Guitar and Learning Bus, there is also a Tough Magic Counting Train. The LeapFrog Touch Magic Rockin’ Guitar and Learning Bus both have a MSRP of $24.99.

Rockin’ Guitar

The Rockin’ Guitar is targeted for ages 3 and up. I think they got the age recommendation spot on because the 2 year olds were not nearly as engrossed as the 4 year olds were with the guitars. While we had two Rockin’ Guitars, there were (4) four year olds and I was a little concerned about sharing.  Much to my surprise, proper social skills have apparently taken hold with these preschoolers and they were all very cordial about letting each friend take a turn.

We even had some collaborative musical efforts between the kids. Cbear enjoyed strumming the “strings” and showing off for his girlfriend. While the tunes might not have been in key, the laughter certainly was!

Learning Bus

The younger kids were interested in the Learning Bus. Bbear’s main amusement was changing up the sounds between the drums (wheels on the bus) and the keyboard keys.  He was also very intrigued with the animal passengers on the bus and the different instruments they played. Bbear loved mixing and matching sounds on the Learning Bus and was not happy when I told him that his turn was over.

Overall, it was interesting to see that the 4 year olds gravitated toward the Rockin’ Guitar while the 2 year old crowd seemed to enjoy the Learning Bus. All of the children played with both products, but they definitely seemed to have favorites!

LeapFrog is hosting a “Touch Magic Rockin’ Guitar” Contest between now and November 30th, 2012 for a chance to win a $500 gift card! Visit www.touchmagic.leapfrog.com and upload a video of your kid jamming & learning with Touch Magic™ Rockin’ Guitar or your own play guitar that you can create out of your own materials.
