My little bears are notoriously picky eaters. It’s really bordering on making me insane some days. Cbear is getting a little better (he ate a piece of grilled chicken this week and the following night he had a meatball! Small victories)! My Bbear? He was my good eater, and now he seems to live on milk, cereal and some select fruits.
When I was offered the chance to check out the new Silk Fruit&Protein drink, I signed up right away! I am usually trying to find ways to incorporate protein in my sons’ diets, and typically feel like I am not doing the best job. The idea of making a smoothie never dawned on me! I really believed they would love this!
Before heading out to Walmart, I checked the website where I was happy to find I could get a $1 off coupon to try the new Silk Fruit&Protein. Hooray!

My local Walmart only carried the one flavor of Silk Fruit&Protein, but lucky for me I knew the boys would love the Strawberry and Banana option!

Silk Fruit&Protein can be found in Walmart’s dairy department (near the milk). As you can see, our shelves were in need of restocking. Then again, it was early on a Monday so they might not have made it to the restocking part of the morning yet!

One of our ingredients Bbear refused to put down during our shopping trip, as well as on the entire drive home! Hey, he was happy so I just went with it!

Bbear loved the strawberries IN the smoothie as much as he did whole!

Doesn’t this look like a yummy treat? I’m definitely trying this one again!

Ingredients:
- 1 container (6 oz) vanilla yogurt
- 1 1/2 cups Silk Fruit&Protein
- 5 medium sized strawberries
- 1 medium banana
- add a few ice cubes
Place ingredients in blender or food processor. Cover; blend on high speed about 30 seconds or until smooth.
You can check out our entire Google+ album for more photos from our shopping trip! For more information on Silk Soy Milk products, especially Silk Fruit&Protein, check out their website, follow them on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook!

I love how excited your son is about the strawberries and the smoothie! What a cutie!

Aw, thank you! He was so excited about it! Toddler food can be so hit or miss so I really didn’t know what to expect – but hooray!!!
So is the Silk Fruit & Protein meant to be used as a smoothie base, or can it stand on its own as well?

Hi Amy! You can use Silk Fruit&Protein a number of different ways. I read a few posts where it was used in a French toast recipe as well as in a cheesecake-like drink. Just out of the carton it is think and more like a milk than a juice. I’m not fond of drinking it like that, but I don’t see why you couldn’t!
It sounds like your Walmart is very similar to ours – always needing to be restocked! lol This smoothie sounds yummy. And my two babies love strawberries AND bananas too. Thanks for the recipe.

Oh yes. I know there is another Walmart nearby (not as close, but not too far) but I haven’t checked to see if they stock their shelves better. I might need to do that! My two are all over bananas these days – the strawberries were a welcomed surprise!
The smoothie looks great! You have an adorable little guy!!
